Hey Cupids,

So talking about the demonetization across India and the hardships and problems the travelers have to go through as 500 and 1000 Currency Denominations are not accepted, hope this step by the Prime Minister brings good results.
Once upon a time when these currency notes were accepted ( -J ) , I would like to narrate a wonderful and unforgettable trip that we had to one of the most beautiful wonders of the world and also this will be the last segment of “A trip to Northern India”.
So after visiting Delhi, we hopped on the train that took us to Agra which is about 195 to 200 kms from Delhi.
Once you hear the name of Agra, the picture that immediately brushes your mind will be of the wonderful monument know as TAJ MAHAL.

Love often knows no boundaries and when you see a monument like this your mind will immediately get indulged in a broader definition of love.
In the Bollywood and during school and college time we had seen lovers ( or would rather say cupids ) presenting each other with a small version in the form of a key chain or rather a showpiece that people kept as an item of work presented for display.

Little did we knew that this amazing mausoleum was not only immense but also so wonderfully built that left us completely gob smacked.

Beautifully built with amazing carvings this iconic monument symbolizing love is built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Defined by 4 huge minarets the Taj Mahal is built inside a courtyard that is set behind a reflecting pool.

We were trying different poses to get ourselves clicked besides this Wonder of the World.

Happy Winter Cupids,

So after spending our leisure time at Qutb Complex our guts still craved to visit another beautiful monument that would still keep us bewildered that how these wonderful places are constructed.

Keeping in view the above we started looking and asking people which other place to visit.

Have you come across any such incident wherein it was not certain and planned to visit a place but you did on the advice of the local people and later got so frantic that you almost lost the sense of time.

The same happened with us when we visited Lotus Temple.

So when you guys hear the word temple what do you expect?

Off course a beautiful idol of some God and all people present in the temple offering their prayers to that God.

Well the Lotus temple doesn’t have any idol. It doesn’t mean that no prayers are offered. Well the only reason is that people are free to worship any God or any religion in this temple. It believes in Oneness of God, Oneness of religion and most importantly Oneness of all Humanity.

This thought and a more broader and mature view towards religion and God was one of the reasons that this beautifully constructed monument makes it to the list of

“Top places to visit New Delhi “. Off course its beautiful construction was the second reason.

This beautiful temple also called Bahai House of worship is made of 27 petals made of marble and has nine doors that lead to a common prayer hall.

I read somewhere that this marble was imported from Greece and we almost got enchanted when we felt the coolness of the marble between our feet and the floor.

This temple is visited by more than 10,000 people a day and 4 million people every year.

Hence sometimes this temple is even called the Taj Mahal of New Delhi.

Had a very hectic day at office, home, traffic and noise pollution and going through a predicament in your life. Pay a visit to this temple and rejuvenate your mind. Chant the mantra of “ AUM “ and dump and free your souls from all the worries and leave this temple with a fresh and energetic body ,mind and soul.

What else…..? Well that’s not all folks, this elegantly and beautifully constructed monument is one of the first and few temples in Delhi that uses solar power.

Get yourself greeted by a beautiful lake and a wonderful garden when you enter this temple.

The timings are 9:30 am till 5:30 pm in winter and till 7 pm during summers. It remains open from Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Monday.

You can reach this amazing temple by metro. The nearest metro is Kalkaji Mandir on the violet line. From here one has to take a cab or rickshaw.

So next time you visit Delhi please keep aside a special time so that you can have a completely different experience of this grandeur worship place as sometimes it is important to think back and reminisce on what indelible treasures you have experienced.

So that's all Cupids.

Stay tuned for the next post on " One of the most Amazing wonders of the world with a story of love behind it" in our next segment of  "A trip to Northern India "

Hey Cupids,

So with the beginning of winter season, we would like to recall our trip to New Delhi – the capital city of India after we bid adieu to unforgettable city and unforgettable memories we had in Amritsar.

Being the month of January it was too way chilling and completely different weather experience for us.

However as usual the peace of mind and joy that emerged through travelling was at its peak.

Commuting in Delhi is way too easy and also cheap because of the speedy and comfortable metro trains ------However beware of the peak hours or be intrepid enough to make your way through the huddle of people.

We first went to the beautiful temple of Akshardham – a beautiful temple that not only depicts Hinduism values, culture and tradition but also it’s a sumptuous example of the architectural work and dedication put in by the people.

Visit the link to know more:
Akshardham

Photography is not allowed inside the temple and hence no pictures were taken by us.

Don’t forget to witness a gorgeous water show that will leave you in state of subtle aura.

You will need one full day to visit this beautiful temple.

You can even stay in the temples guest house if you have come in groups but only by prior appointment otherwise off course there are plenty of good hotels in Delhi.

The second day was filled with zeal, vigour and enthusiasm.

Travelling in metro trains & visiting places walking has its own charm.

So we first visited Qutub Minar.

Qutub Minar which is at height of 73 meters is the tallest brick minar in the world.

The construction of Qutub Minar was started during 1200AD by Qutb al-Din Aibak and was completed by Iltutmish.

There are several ancient monuments surrounding it and is known as Qutub Complex which is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.

If you are a historian and are keen to know about India’s history then this place can be a wonderful abode for you.

Go through the pictures and get tempted to know more.

A little more close view……-J

Still more close -J

You guys know what? This place can even work wonders if you are a professional photographer. Models will off course go nuts -J

An amazing window to get clicked here. I think this was built in anticipation by the king at that time keeping in mind the young and creative photographers of today. - J

Stay tuned and get to know about a beautiful meditation place that we visited after our visit to this tall, dark and handsome minar which is one of the tallest of all the minars of India.

Till then…..Keep travelling.

Love,
