Happy Monsoon Cupids,

You know which the most favorite season is for all the Cupids….Well indeed it is monsoon.

So with the arrival of Rainy Season ,waters pouring on the earth and love pouring within our hearts we would like to share a weekend gateway trip where we went to MATHERAN.

Wonderful view of the clouds touching the tip of the mountains, hearing the sound of several birds chirping, sight of a dense forest cover with several trees with its branches and leaves swaying to the tune of cool breeze, just when the rain stops and the water droplets sitting on the leaves and the leaves slightly moving back and forth so that the droplets fall on the mother earth, your senses getting addicted to the beautiful scent of the mud and the green lush cover, visiting a place with almost NIL Air pollution, All of these might sound like a Paradise to you.

On the earth there is no perfect paradise but there are pieces of it. MATHERAN is one of such place which will take you way back over a hundred years in time when there were no vehicles.

As there are no vehicles allowed the air pollution is almost NIL.

What else you need as a NATURIST? If you are a true NATURE lover and if you want to run away from the hustling and bustling city then this place can be a HEAVEN for you.

If you have hidden hints of adventurer in you then this place also offers ZIP Lining or Valley crossing as you will see in the pictures and also mountain tracking ( we were not fortunate enough to do mountain tracking because of lack of time )

So starting the Trip….

We decided to go to Matheran during weekends way back four years before in 2012 when we were “BACHELORS”

We went there with a bunch of our close friends with whom we have travelled so many places within India.

Matheran is small hill station in the state of Maharashtra and is located about 90kms from Mumbai. The word MATHERAN means “Mother Forest”. Matheran is an eco- sensitive region declared by the Government of India. Vehicles are not allowed in Matheran which makes this place different from others.

There are a lot of look out points which gives you wonderful and spectacular views of different mountains. The Panorama Point provides you 360 degree views of the surrounding region.

There are different points such as Alexander Point, One tree hill ,Echo point, Panorama Point which is a Sun rise point and also Porcupine Point which is a Sun set point.

This place can work wonders for all the “NATURISTS” and “ PHOTOGRAPHERS”.

Our planned trip in Monsoon came with a set of its own Advantages and Drawbacks.

Rani Ki Vav (The queen of the step wells of India)

I never believed that a step well can be so big ,until I saw this one. Beautifully constructed and with brilliant architectural work this step well is the Queen of all wells which is situated in Patan,Gujarat. Patan is about  127kms from Ahmedabad and about 34 kms from the Sun temple. You can go there after visiting the Sun temple at Modhera and then return to Ahmedabad.( if you want to catch a train or flight from Ahmedabad ).This step well built in third millennium BC comes under the UNESCOS world Heritage sites.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rani_ki_vav
Please go to visit this place during the day time so that you can enjoy the beautiful carvings of this great archeological place. Also this place is situated in slightly remote/village area so turn on the GPS if you have. Or else be ready to ask the directions to the people in local language ( i.e Gujarati ) or Hindi.

The step wells in Gujarat and Rajasthan were built as it served many purposes. It was used to store water and this water was used for bathing and washing, provide shelter to the travelers from the scorching heat of the sun. In the past there were no hotels to stay and travelers used to spend some time over here. Such kind of wells were also called stopovers.

Women used to gather over here and have leisure time discussing daily routines.

These wells were also preferred venues for sacred rituals.

I will not write more on this and will let the pictures do the talking.

A short introduction of this great work.

===> Suntemple - Modhera

Hello Cupids, - J

So how many of you guys have visited many places but haven’t yet explored the place where you have lived? How many of you haven’t yet explored the hidden gems found in your home state/city.

Sometimes we visit many different places but we do not have any cognizance of our own place where we have been brought up.

Same happened with us. Until one day when one of my cousins came to see us, we decided to see three

precious jewels of Gujarat, not known to many.

A trip to :

1) Sun Temple-(Modhera), ( Part 1 of Visiting marvels of Gujarat )

2) Rani Ki Vav ( The queen of the step wells of India ) and

3) Adalaj Ki Vav ( A step well with a tale of love and enmity behind it ) - ( Part 2 of Visiting marvels of Gujarat )

It is said that Kerala is Gods own Country…………………Well indeed it is.

Recently in the month of April we planned a trip to Kannur (or also known as Cannanore )  which is a beautiful city in the state of Kerala.

We had not preplanned this trip. We decided to visit Kannur to attend wedding of one of our best friends who is originally from Kannur and working in Vadodara, Gujarat with us.

Ooops I forgot to tell you something more about us besides being “cupid travelers”.

We (both me and my wife) are electrical engineers by profession and working in an MNC in Vadodara, Gujarat. I am Devansh and my wife’s name is Dipika.

Now coming back to our Kannur trip.

As this trip was not preplanned we got leave only for a week. Also we had not booked tickets in advance…….which was a blunder by us.
